# Backup & disaster recovery for Pakistani businesses

UltraTech Pakistan backs up business servers, computers and cloud data using the 3-2-1 rule: three copies, on two types of storage, with one copy off-site. Off-site copies are protected so ransomware cannot delete them, and we test restores regularly, so a failure or attack doesn't become lost data.

## What we protect

- **Servers & virtual machines:** Image-level backups that can restore a whole server or a single file.
- **Computers & laptops:** Automatic backup of staff devices, even when they're away from the office.
- **Microsoft 365 & Google:** Independent backup of email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Google Drive.
- **Ransomware-proof copies:** Immutable off-site backups that ransomware cannot delete or encrypt.
- **Tested restores:** Scheduled test restores, with the results written up in a report.
- **Recovery plan:** A written plan listing who does what, and in what order, if systems go down.

## Where your data is stored

- Off-site copies can be kept in data centers inside Pakistan when your data must stay in the country, or in international cloud regions.
- Backups run at night to avoid slowing the office internet connection during working hours.

### What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?

Keep three copies of your data, on two different types of storage, with one copy off-site. It protects against hardware failure, theft, fire and ransomware.

### Does Microsoft 365 back up our data?

Microsoft keeps the service running, but deleted or encrypted data is only kept for a limited time. An independent backup protects you from accidental deletion, ransomware and departing staff.

### How quickly can you restore our systems?

It depends on the size of the data and the backup type. Recovery-time targets are agreed in writing when the backup is designed, and checked with test restores.
